How to submit a death registration

If you want to order a death certificate, you must do so before submitting the death registration.

From the Drafts list:

  1. Check that the draft’s status is ‘Ready to submit’. If not, there are details you still need to provide
  2. Tick the box next to the draft
  3. Click the Submit button
  4. On the confirmation page, click the Confirm submission

Submit multiple registrations

If your drafts list contains more than one page, submit registrations one page at a time. Navigating between the pages will deselect any previously ticked items.

No signature needed

Medical practitioners do not need to sign cause of death certificates submitted online.

BDM verifies medical practitioner credentials each they submit a cause of death. This serves as their electronic signature. The certificate contains a statement that it has been electronically signed.
